This page explains what information Bea Destinations (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects when you use beadestinations.com, why we use it, which services may process it, and the choices available to you.

Who we are

Bea Destinations is a travel website with destination guides, itineraries, trip notes, and photography. It is operated from the United States.

Summary

There are no public user accounts on this site, and visitors cannot upload files.
We collect information you choose to send us: comments, contact form messages, and newsletter sign-ups.
Some information may be collected automatically for site delivery, security, spam prevention, and analytics, depending on the features and consent choices that are active.
You can change your cookie choices at any time.

Information you provide

Comments

Comments are open on many posts. When you leave a comment, the comment form collects:

Your name (required)
Your email address (required, not published)
Your website (optional)
Your comment
Your IP address and browser user-agent string, which WordPress records with each comment

Your name, website (if provided), and comment are shown publicly with your comment. Your email address is not published.

We use this information to display and moderate comments, respond to you, and detect spam and abuse. Comments are checked by Akismet, an anti-spam service operated by Automattic. To do this, Akismet receives the comment and related information such as your name, email address, website, IP address, browser user agent, and referring page. See the Akismet privacy policy.

If you check the box to save your name, email, and website in your browser, WordPress stores them in cookies on your device so you do not need to enter them again next time. If you leave the box unchecked, those cookies are not set.

This site displays profile images next to comments. To do this, WordPress may create a hashed version of your email address and use it to check whether you have a profile image with Gravatar, a service operated by Automattic. See the Automattic privacy policy.

Our email sign-up form, “Get new guides and trip notes by email”, collects your email address. We use it to send the guide you asked for and new guides, itineraries, and trip notes. The embedded MailerLite form loads when you allow Marketing in cookie preferences. Loading the form requests scripts, styles, fonts, and form information from MailerLite and its asset services, even before you submit your email address.

The newsletter is managed with MailerLite, which stores your email address and processes sign-up and email activity for us. See the MailerLite privacy policy.

You can unsubscribe at any time with the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or by emailing beatriz@beadestinations.com. After you unsubscribe, you will stop receiving newsletter emails.

Contact form

The contact form on the Work With Me page collects your name, email address, and message. The form also records the page it was submitted from. We use this to reply and to handle your request.

Form submissions are sent to us by email. They are not stored as entries in the website database.

Information collected automatically

Server and security data

Like most websites, our hosting provider and WordPress process technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is needed to deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. Security features provided by Jetpack (Automattic) process IP addresses of login attempts to block malicious access.

Analytics

Bea Destinations has Google Site Kit and Jetpack installed. Where their analytics features are active, they may process information such as pages visited, referring site, device and browser type, approximate location, and interactions with pages.

Where analytics are active, we use them to understand site traffic, see which content is useful, measure site performance, and learn how visitors find and use Bea Destinations. Analytics behavior can depend on the consent configuration currently active on the site. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Strictly necessary and functional

Some cookies and similar technologies are used for core site functions, security, language and consent preferences, forms, and other features you request. Complianz is active on Bea Destinations and manages the site’s consent controls. The exact technologies assigned to each category depend on the site’s current configuration.

Statistics (analytics)

These help us understand how the site is used. Google Site Kit and Jetpack are installed on Bea Destinations, and their analytics behavior depends on the analytics and consent settings currently active on the site.

Bea Destinations uses Complianz for cookie consent. The live consent controls show Functional as always active and provide separate Statistics and Marketing categories. The banner includes Accept, Deny, View preferences, and Save preferences controls, and you can reopen your choices with Manage consent or the button below.

You can review or change your consent choices at any time with the button below, the footer’s Cookie Preferences button, or the “Manage consent” control on the site. Withdrawing Statistics or Marketing reloads the current page to stop previously loaded optional scripts. Turning off Statistics also removes the site’s Google Analytics cookies. Your browser settings provide additional cookie controls.

Third-party links

Bea Destinations links to other websites and services. When you leave Bea Destinations and use another service, that service’s privacy policy and terms apply. We do not control their privacy practices.

Who processes your information

We share information only as needed to run the site and provide the features described above. The services involved are:

Website hosting and infrastructure: Hostinger
Website software and plugins that support visitor-facing features: WordPress, Complianz (cookie consent), and WPForms (contact forms)
Security and spam prevention: Akismet and Jetpack (Automattic)
Analytics and site measurement: Google Site Kit and Jetpack are installed; which analytics features operate depends on their current configuration and your applicable consent choices.
Newsletter: MailerLite, including its form and asset services
Third-party script delivery: jsDelivr, used to load animation software on pages that include it. Your browser contacts this service when those pages load.
Profile images used with comments: Gravatar (Automattic)

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Bea Destinations, its visitors, or others.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and keep the site secure. Retention varies by the type of information and the service involved.

Comments and related moderation data remain associated with the comment while it is retained on the site.
Contact form messages are delivered by email and are not stored as WPForms entries on this site.
Newsletter information is handled through MailerLite and follows the settings and retention practices that apply to that service.
Where analytics data is collected, retention follows the settings of the analytics services in use and the providers’ applicable policies.
Cookie and consent information follows the active consent configuration and your browser settings.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:

International visitors

Bea Destinations is operated from the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live.

Children’s privacy

Bea Destinations is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including secure (HTTPS) connections, spam protection, and login protection. No website or online service can guarantee complete security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the site or our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised.
