Use this checklist as a starting point for the W Trek. Adjust quantities to your route, season, accommodation and booked meals. It is a planning resource, not a record of Bea completing the full W on foot.
Download the printable packing checklist (PDF), then work through the categories below.
Layers and feet
- Base layers and hiking trousers or tights.
- Insulating mid-layer, waterproof jacket and rain trousers.
- Warm hat, sun hat, gloves and neck layer.
- Broken-in hiking footwear, socks and camp shoes.
Choose footwear you have already worn on comparable terrain with your loaded pack. There is no single boot or trail-runner choice that suits every person and season.
Pack and daily essentials
- Pack liner or dry bags and a rain cover.
- Water bottle or bladder and a planned water-treatment method.
- Food and snacks matched to your booked meals.
- Headlamp, spare power, first-aid and blister kit.
- Personal medication, sunscreen and sunglasses.
Documents and bookings
- Passport and park entry confirmation.
- Offline copies of accommodation and transport bookings.
- Offline map, route notes and emergency contacts.
- Payment methods accepted by your providers.
Camping and camera gear
- Confirm whether you are carrying or renting a tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat.
- Confirm cooking equipment, fuel transport rules and permitted cooking areas.
- Protect camera equipment with a dry bag; pack a lens cloth, batteries and memory cards.
Before you leave
Confirm what your accommodation includes before buying or packing bedding, meals or equipment. Weigh the loaded pack and test it on a walk. Check your airline’s rules for poles, fuel and camping equipment; this list does not guarantee a carry-on-only trip.
Check current park conditions and guidance and your providers’ requirements before departure. The printable checklist was updated on 14 October 2026; quantities and weights are yours to record.
